Our thoughts and prayers today go out to the family of Aggie Corps of Cadets Leader Taylor Gillespie, who was killed Sunday in a car accident on an icy North Texas road. In the wake of this tragedy, our sympathies extend to the entire Texas A & M family of students and alumni. Here's the story from this morning's Houston Chronicle: COLLIN COUNTY, Texas -- A Texas A&M student was killed Sunday in a North Texas traffic accident where icy roads have created dangerous driving conditions. Taylor Gillespie was a senior commanding officer in the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets. Gillespie, 21, was returning to College Station from his home in Leonard, about 50 miles northeast of Dallas. Gillespie’s father was driving when he lost control on a slick road in Collin County where it was sleeting at the time. The car spun out and crossed into the northbound lanes of SH 121, according to the DPS. A northbound car crashed into the passenger side of the Gillespie vehicle. Thomas Gillespie, 44, and the other driver were injured in the crash and taken to an area hospital. Gillespie was driving "at an unsafe speed due to road conditions," according to Dallas DPS spokesman Robert White.
